About
I was flying from Portland, OR to LA on a small commuter aircraft and saw this dome shaped rock. After I made a couple of exposures I checked my GPS unit to see where we were and I found we were passing over Yosemite. So, I think this might be Half Dome. I've never seen it from the air before. Shooting through the airplane window did not do the image much good.
I am awed by your images of the "old" cars. They capture the sense of elegance and class that was originally built into them. Your choice of the G5 camera is really wise. The early "G" series cameras (G1, G2, G3, G5) are still top of the line because they allow the photgrapher to have so much control. Their lenses are also top flight, and with an f/2 aperture, they can make the most of available light situations.
Mark, you are probably right about Half Dome, it looks familiar. The image is quite good even if shot from the window of an airplane. Your portfolios are quite good.
My God there is someone around here longer than me!
Anyway ... Rob is correct of course, but I couldn't just leave this image alone as a 'Very cool shot!' Therefore, I went immediately without hesitation if you don't mind with a square B&W crop not to 'salvage' this photograph but to appease Ansel Adams just a bit perhaps.
George...it's definitely Half Dome; you can see the Merced River running up through the Valley to the right of the dome and Glacier Point is left middle. Very cool shot!
