About The valley is overrun with mammals, but here is a survivor.
New Zealand seperated from gondwana land before the birds got mammal smart (if they ever did) at night their defence against a heat sensing mustelid is to sit still ...then come the teeth.
I don't know what this bird is, but hadn't seen one before.

I totally agree with greg. At first, on glance, I thought it a North Peninsula Givin...

but I see now (on further inspection) it is a South Island Robin...

My mistake.
