Nah the super multi coated super takumar is coated to constrain reflections of the lens elements I think. I used to think this talk of "dark" lenses meant something about the transperancy of the class. Laugh! (titter) Nah this is just me leaving the levels in the dark left hand zone of the tone range. Almost ritually I'll check out the tonal range and spread it out but this is o.k., occasionally, isn't it? And in the days of those pewter plate things a hundred years ago this would be it wouldn't it?

Does the darkness come from the fact that the lens is supermulaticoated? I take your point about the noise/darkness fight... shooting raw here?

The use of the high keys is often a waste. Am excellent image in the deeper tones. We see all that we need to here! John B
