About Trying to catch the rather heavy atmosphere of that dark autumn day, I focused infinity and underexposed. The result is rather strange to me, since the branches and leaves at the top are still overexposed. Perhaps the underexposure was too weak in combination with the tree out of focus in the foreground? Anyway, I consider the image interesting enough for posting. I would be glad to read any comments on this.

Thanks a lot for the nice detaield comment and the suggestion, Dave! It is indeed hard to get the proper exposure on each part of such photos, but this is what I find rather interesting because it is so demanding.

But let's try your cropping proposal. It really seems to work for me, as the overburned sky is no more so dominant. Many thanks for the idea!

Best wishes,

Nick

The out of focus foreground foliage gives the shot a lot of depth when looking at the distant shore, Nick. It probably wouldn't be possible to get a proper exposure on the sky given the range of lighting in the scene. Possibly cropping some off the top to lessen the impact of the overexposed sky would help.
Dave.
