About This was shot during some storms about 1 year ago, but I dusted it off because of the recent tornadoes and because tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of a large tornado that hit my hometown, killing 114 people. This image was shot just over my house. The clouds were boiling...it is hard to describe. This image, along with images of other photographers, was shown on local tv after the storm.

I am sorry to read that a storm caused harm to your hometown, Mary. However, in your image, you are showing us that there is also beauty in the power of natural forces.

I love the way you've framed the boiling clouds with the trees - they draw the eye up to the subject of the pic. Fantastic.

Wow! Very nice....this may sound corny but I see two eye's, a nose and an ear in the clouds.

WOW! Thats all I can say about this. WOW.
Thanks for all your great comments on my work Mary Sue. I like to think I am getting better and better as a result of all the feedback. I don't think I ever answered your question a while ago about the Canon 10D. My answer is, I love it...but it always seems I have my Nikon Coolpix 4300 with me due to ease of portability so I end up using it more. It give me great images as well.

Excellent sky shot. Makes one think they are there.
Thank you fir your kind comments on my shots. To explain the "Sepia Barn",
To the left was a modern granery that I was eliminating. I also tried to capture DOF on right. Also there is a differnce of opinion about centering the main focal point of interest.
Your commets areappreciated. i have tons of pictures, unfortunatly, The scans don't do the pictures justice
by the time I re route them to this site.
Still learning!

Thanks for the kind remarks on this image. I appreciate the comments. To those who asked about ratings: I deeply value critical feedback, but do not find numerical ratings informative or helpful, so I disable the ratings feature when posting. Thanks again for your comments, for which I am grateful.

Wonderful and dramatic photo, showing all of natures forces. I would give very high ratings on this, however, you must have not unchecked the allow rating box.

Scary photo! It's a reminder of the power of nature, and our total helplessness in the face of such power. VERY well done my friend!

nicely done Mary - of course you knew I would have to comment on this ;)
I like how you framed the dramatic clouds between the silhouetted trees. Your scene is well exposed (i know the lower sky is a little brightly exposed but it is fine)
I always have such a mixed emotional reaction to such images, awe and respect and sheer excitement for the power of nature and yet fear and horror for the people who live in their path. Glad this did not decide to send a tornado down to your home :)

:
very great docu, which equally works as a nature's still
(if this term could be appropriate under the circumstances)
and very brave:

Mary Sue this is a very nice capture of a mood momment of the clouds swirling and the storm. I like the color and the light is as good as you can do under the conditions.

Sad story Mary, and yes, the picture mood, and dramatic sky, tells exactly your words... I like it becuase it is kind of photography, that carries the truth both happy and unhappy... excellent
