About I wanted to work on my next project, saw light bounce off a CD on to the wall next to my dragon. An idea came together :) The intent is to make the scene look magical. The shadow of the neck and head is intended to make the figure look more ominous.

Hi Daniel,
Nice shot! If you want more impact though... I think some is lost because the head blends into the wing surface a bit. I can see it would be difficult to frame the head against anything else, unless a very low angle could do it - how about spotlighting the head with sidelight, perhaps from a fine beam torch or similar. No idea if that might work, but it could be worth a try. Looks pretty good to me already though!

Cool beans Daniel, you've had alot of great idea shots lately and your nailing em good. Here I think two changes could pull this together more - 1: the white light isn't fitting in with the mood on the dragon , bouncing your light off a colored piece of paper, or wall, etc etc (thru a gel, whatever you've got) could keep this full tilt weird. 2 - the full span of the wings would be cool to see~ Great stuff

Thanks for your comment Kim :) I can't wait to see your dragon shots... It is a little odd that we were working on the same type shot . I think I'm going to work with this one a little more, there has to be something more I can do to give the shot a bit more depth. Maybe some reflected light on top as well.. *Shrugs* Maybe the solution is a composit?

You're right, the blue above the head does seem out of place.

It was very weird for me to see this new image, as I am waiting for my prints from the lab, with shots of a dragon with light bounced off tinfoil. Crazy how people tend to think the same things at the same time!!
I like the variation of colour, it does add some magic to the shot. The blue above its head, though, doesn't need to be there. It's almost too dark to be noticed, but once the eye captures it, it's hard to not see it.
I also like the how the wings fall out of frame... add mystery! Great job! I'll post some of mine if they turn out!
