Good point Jan . . . stopping down to f/2.8 with the Kenko Extension tubes may have narrowed the DOF, but the issue would have remained and the increased oof blur would have been MORE distracting then (IMO). I just see no way to eliminate that without (Shhh . . . don't tell Marny) . . . . sissors. Of course, then it wouldn't have looked right either. :)

Thanks Onie . . . the more I think about it the more I think you might have a little meal preparation skill hiding under that photographer exterior . . . Watch out or Marny and I will be knocking on your door at dinner time!! LoL!

Excellent macro but I agree with Dave. Not sure if, when in macro range, that stopping down the aperture would have helped much; shallow DOF is the name of the macro game. I love the color and texture.

~~GRIN~~... You have given me *food for thought* tonight... You will have to forgive me Doyle, my excuse is, I must be hungry...
With this, it was a lime and grape jelly from an intricate mold... decorated with rich, clotted cream... :))) Cacti and succulants are a favourite here, most amazing flowers... :)))
Agree on the focus issue, but nothing puts me of my food ~~GRIN~~...
Lovely feast for the eyes Sir... :)))

Excellent colour and detail, Doyle! I find the out of focus parts in the center foreground are a little distracting, though. Dave.

I do love this macro as it is big enough to have a focus and dof which amazes me but I am still easily amazed ! I am eager to see the flowers when this one blooms too... I hope you will keep us posted ?
Also I have to add that Marlyce has 'THE most interesting cactus garden' I've ever even thought of !!! I've only seen 2-3 plants but they are all amazing and humungus , and soooooooooo healthy !!!! I love it !!
Best Wishes, Michele~
