Thanks very much Riny. As a result of suggestions from Tim Shumm I reshot this image and have posted it as Amaryllis 4. I think Amaryllis 4 is significantly better than this one.

Hi Tim,
As a result of your comments I did some research on flower parts, here is what I found:
The 5 pollen bearing things in the centre of the image are the stamen which consists of the anther with the pollen (tip) and the filament (tube), this is the male part of the flower,
The long thing extending down to the bottom edge of the image is the carpel or pistil consisting of the stigma (tip), the style (tube), the ovary and ovule at the base thus the female part of the flower. This really has little to do with your comment. :) :) :)
Good suggestions Tim, so I reshot it. It turned out so well that I am going to repost it. Here is a preview. Thanks very much Tim.

This one does not work for me as much. I think the one thing that bothers my eye right away is the cropping off of the stamen on the bottom. Also I find the 4 corners exposing the background diminish the overall potential power of your flower and that maybe a tighter crop would keep my attention more to the center of your composition.

The amaryllis put on a wonderful show, and what an ending! Dusting of pollen, left by a winged visitor who also saw the beauty of this plant.
