one event that pushes me up to cover every year, is this popular mixed with religious (with lots of paganism included) party. It goes on my city.
The tale tells that there was once a frey who used to throw food and bred to all poor people, from the top of this chappel. Something that went always against the church's will. The tale tells that this was the only way he had to cheer people down here, and at the same time, he was ealing their diseases and natural deformations like hunchbacks, mental disturbs and even (nice guy, wasn't he?) had the abillity to improve relationships between some non-married women with men.
These days - the saint passed away some centuries ago - devoted people try to act like him paying their promises - throwing large, sweet, white, dry and lightweighted cakes to the croud on the square. Unfortunatelly, gravity is not welcome and there are lot of people going to be healed somewhere else (aka hospitals and clinics), 'coz these cakes are tough as hell dropping on the top of our heads.
That's the main reason why we see people starring at the sky with inverted umbrellas and other fishing artefacts trying to catch (or escape from) as many cakes as they can.
Luis: Como he dicho, mi pagina está "off".
