Excellent shot! Very beautiful. I like the action of the horse and the dust by his feet.

Wonderful frozen movement! The background beautifully detailed and the dust risen by the horse's legs in movement is like the foam on a sea of pebbles! I definitely prefer the silhouette of the horse than the graphic presence of the animal. In fact, we have here the Sprit of the Stallion, not just the stallion. A wonderful dedication to Mary, too!

YT

A lovely dedication, Joggie! I´ve always been a great admirer of horsepower, too ;-) Excellent timing here ... very well composed with nice light to bring out the dust and movement.

Hi John - thanks for the constructive comments - Well, taken in mid-winter, early morning with a gutsy cold wind blowing. The D70 can only go from 200ISO upwards. I was using the 80-400 at maximum and with the wind blowing, long lens and working without a tripod I opted for a fast shutter to freeze the action. I aggree with your comments in general and I also think that B&W can work well on this. For this shot though I wanted to display as much of the natural splendour of these interesting animals. Take care!

Excellent, really here adds a lot the dust the horse gives here into the composition, very nice focus too!
hmmm.... perchaps that could be a bit longer exposure too...(just an idea, not a critique) to gives the motion the forse do, think 1sec with ISO100 and the smallest aperture you can have, f/32 for excample!
Anyway, here is great, I also could say the horse already looks dark, almost black, a faster exposure can give even a 100% silhouette, just also for a more srtistique result....all these are ideas ofcaurse, already the image have lot to give, much more than JUST a horse shot. Very good.
Best regards!
