An excellent picture of a difficult to photograph creature. We were fascinated to see them immediately start feeding on an injured member of their species and even saw one start eating his own guts on one occasion.

Must admit, I never kill a cricket... Do not know why, but I don't... Just pick them up and pop them outside as I do spiders etc...

what to critiques?
Just yesterday we were looking at your fantastic macro's shots with Paolo pagnini and Roberto Gianfaldoni (two Usefilm members) and we were sayin' that they all are of an incredible quality of colours, details and composition...
Even this one is the demonstration that we were right!!!

Thanks Eb - The frame is made up from a layer in the back with a Gausian blur applied (50) and then darkened. Thought a change is as good as a holiday!

Another great macro combined with interesting information, Joggie! The technique of using an apparent inner frame appears to be effective! Perhaps it is an outer frame and uses the photo colours?

Very interesting insect. You just can't beat the beauty of the colors of nature. They compliment so well. 20mm is less than an inch. Looks like a giant in the photo. Very well done.

It seems a miracle such clearness in a little island sorrounded by blurriness. Bravissimo! Beautiful this little being dressed as an ancient warrior ready for the battle.
