About A winter attraction in Winnipeg, this miniature railway runs through several acres with tunnels, crossings and a small station all decorated with 80,000 coloured lights! It's a great ride for adults and kids alike especially when it's snowing! They're battery operated locomotives that pull about 10 cars people can sit on. There are also walking trails to pass the time on, and hot chocolate available in the station, all for a $2.00 donation. The bargain of the season!

What a great shot, the way you have taken it with the train coming at us is great and all of those soft snowflakes add beautiful texture to the shot. Alison

Wow Dave, a great night shot with snow flakes, lights, and action! I love train engines, first I thought from the thumbnail that it was a full size train, and then the person became apparent, as the engine light is the first thing you see. This looks like lots of fun, and a great way to be outdoors. Nice to read the about, too :) Ina

Hi Ed, thanks for the comment! Yes, it was taken at ISO 200, but with flash. The camera has a setting to allow the flash output to be increased slightly by a factor of .6 and that's what I used.
Dave.

Nice shot Dave, at first I thought it was Santa on a new sleigh. The shot looks really nice with the snow and the flash worked well.

Looks like lots of fun Dave!
I imagine the Dads have to race the kids to get the best seats on this one.
Whoever built this seems to have a little of the Disney spirit in them.

Edward Ghoti   {K:5514} 1/3/2007
Great shot Dave.

Did you really shoot that at ISO 200? If so, I am obviously doing something severely wrong; my night shots are never anywhere that kind of clarity and sharpness. Any hints?

All the best,
Ed

I have been there many times, and this is exactly what it is like. Very nice capturing the image. I like that you took this when it was snowing too. It really adds to the feel.

What a cool place. In that small picture I thought it looked like an odd angle if it were a real life train. Then in the big version you see a person, then you read the story. It comes together in a weird kind of way to make a great picture & story. I wish I lived near there to visit!
