thank you. i am flattered. i felt the same way at first. this is not usually my favorite kind of work. but i found that i could work very quickly and capture a more raw form of emotion this way. i can think a shoot to death, this is definitely a step away from my self imposed strictures and comfort zone. but i feel like it was successful. all of the things that you mentioned as eye catching were the very reasons i halted my work at this point. it was done here, finished. i am glad that it inspired a response in you.

One other comment I forgot to mention: If you are considering something different for your next creation--don't sit on the scanner; you will crack the glass.:) :) --Jan

I do not usually like manipulated images (probably because most of mine fail miserably) but I do find this one fascinating.... this is a powerful image and has multiple "zones" that catch the eye; almost as if they are seperate images. The cheek, with it's set-aside tone and assyemtry, the gaping mouth (scream, shout?) and the upper portion of the photo with a different tone moving away from the eye with some hair detail. Not quite abstract, not quite realistic. The very fact that I had this reaction tells me you succeeded in creating a worthwhile portrait. Thanks for sharing your creation. --jan
