Yeah I didn't know what size to post the pano and it came out to big. I had a few comments by then so I was a bit committed. Got the trial version of Autostitch and well god willing go to bed at a more normal time like most good gamers...say 3am? Yeah I am a hand held kind of guy packing lite. even rigged up a harness to keep the camera on my chest and off my neck while hiking....that way there is no camera case to lug around...just a lot of bear spray instead. Hey let me know if you are coming out. maybe I could show you a few good places. I find spring and fall the best in the Rockies. The fall the best of the two...more color and better weather. Mid sept to early Oct. But you got to worry a bit about snow in around these time as well. I got snowed out while I was there in mid sept....with 6-8in of the stuff in one night.

Hey Mr. Tim:
The final comp is really well done, I actually prefer the preview to the final big version since the JPEG quality starts to crunch out with artifacts.
A person at work is trying to convince me that I have to go to the Canadian Rockies, and I think you are closing in on sealing the deal with great shot after great shot.
I know the pains of Photomerge. Cripes, the Adobe product makes you really work for results.
I had moderate success with it, but you had to use a laser-guided precision NC milled high tempered aluminium/titanium/carbon fiber supercompositied atomic-powered tripod with a full scientific team to make sure your photos lined up for the merge. I'm more of the sloppy hand-held fiend out there.
With a 10 lb Bogen I'm not much for the carry and setup.
I had more success with Canon's Photostitch, and then had even more success with Arcsoft Panorama maker. This product worked well, but I was always setting manual junction points.
I finally used Autostitch, which if you do line up reasonably well and keep patterns in the photograph will do the thinking for you. Just get some RAM and some sleep while it cranks away.
You can always send the files along as quality 12 JPEGs out of PS if you want me to merge them up for you.

Oh I know what you mean Tim, I've learned a lot too here at UF. This is the first site I've posted my images on, and I've only been taking pictures for 1 and half, 2 years. WOW 40,000 images a year, I have to get the calcutor out, let's see that's 3,330 images a month. You must have a LOT of memory or lots of external drives. That's what I use. I'd love to know some of your techniques, your work is very beautiful. I fully intend to spend some time looking tomorrow, it's getting late here 11PM.. Too focused? Hmmmm, how can you be from a rocker? LOL. Well you're good at what you do, and photography is challenging and a lot of fun too. I originally started taking pictures to paint and fell in love with photography, one of the longest love affairs ever, think it's going to continue for some time. I'll be looking at some more of your work tomorrow Tim...have a good night. PS...who needs hair anyway? Well ok, some of us do...LOL. Cheers, :) Linda

Well I guess you had better dig a little deeper into my past...there are a few old uglies...I have only been shooting seriously in the last 3-4 years since I got digital. But I am now shooting close to 40,000 images a year trying to get better...yep that's right the marriage is over in the same time frame....you think I am too focused? Usefilm has been totally instrumental in my development as has the support of so many of the other photographers on this site. Thank you for giving my pics a look.
Cheers

I can tell you've been doing this for a while, I don't see anything ugly in your portfolio...:) I'll have to spend some time taking a better look at your work...it's really very good. I bet you've heard that before. Have a lovely weekend..:) Linda
