About Having once been a Light Keeper in the northern waters of the Canadian Pacific Coast, these remaining light houses have a deeper meaning to me then the average person I think. Maintaining a Lighthouse was a full 24hr a day job with little or no time off. I also had to do weather recordings every 3 hrs 24hrs around the clock and never got more then 3 hrs of sleep at any one time as a result. My wife and I had just had a newborn baby at the time and well.... his sleep pattern had nothing to do with the Lighthouse pattern....I have to say that since leaving that job many years ago I now value sleep like never before...haha.

Yes, I already love it and I was down at the beach last night photographing with cold hands:)
I did look at the Nikon D40 as you also talked about, but I could see that it was too limitted within some areas on a longterm basis, but indeed less expensive. My good husband then decided to buy the Nikon D80 for me which is the best present ever to get and wonderful as I wouldn´t have bought it now anyway:-)

Hey!!! excellent!! glad you have a D80. You will love it, but it might take a bit of time to get used to it. Looking forward to the new uploads. (what a wise husband!)

Oh that must have been a tough time although such memories slowly become more blurry and positive;-)Amazing job nonetheless I would imagine that must have satisfied your love of nature somewhat.
I like the contrasts and colours in this image, also the angle, but I think I would crop out the harbour-area on the right.
Best wishes
Annemette
PS: My husband bought me a NikonD80 like yours a few days ago. Wonderful camera!

Beautiful light and color saturation Tim, and a nice about too. I had no idea so much was involved in maintaining a lighthouse...well done...:)

I like the perspective and composition of this one, Tim! Colours throughout the image are very good, from the rocks in the foreground to the sky and bright red of the lighthouse and buildings.

Beautifully done, Tim, in your trademark style! The rocky tidal pool is a worthy subject in itself but now framed with neat maritime action.
