Excellent composition, not so sure about the tone,I think I'd have desaturated the yellow a tad and strengthened the red 'monument'.This would also look great in B/W maybe adding noise (grain) and then a diffuse filter in PS.I find Neatimage works well on a noisy colour image. Best Wishes, Tony

The fine grain you had in the earlier version is gone. I used to get noise with my old camera but that was a lot worse than your example. Mine covered the shadowy areas like soot. Neatimage helped me out a lot those days. About the only downside was some softening in the image.
Beautiful shot, I like the sky/land ratio and also the subtle brightening of the sky right above the rock formation. Horizon may be slightly tilted to the right.

Thanks, Mike, for your comment. I may try to re-work this a bit when I can find time. The original was actually a try at what you taught me about levels and layers.

I think you are onto something. You may want to hit with levels after masking the sky to get just a little more contrast.

Thank you, Cathy. I don't know if I can describe what noise is but I will try. It is a graininess or fragmented discoloration caused by adjustment or exposure while taking the photo.
In the original, you can look at the sky and see the "noise", a graininess. This re-done version eliminated it for the most part. A much cleaner, crisper image.
Hope that explains it a little. Like I said, I am not an expert in describing what noise is.

Hi Dave,
this has a strong vintage feel over it. The framing isn't quite my style, but it does fit with the vintage feel. Good uphaul of the image, though. Very nicely done!
Cheers,
Hugo

Dave, This is a majestic monument, with such lovely tones. The framing is impeccable. You talk about the amount of noise. I have checked out both your images and am still unsure what you are describing. Can you spare the time for an explanation, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, CC
