About A total re-shoot of an interesting doorway in Grants. I wanted to re-shoot this night scene with my new lens, having done so about a year and a half ago with a Canon Crayola lens.

This is a 41 second shot at ISO 100 with f5.0

Quite suprizing to read this is a night shot, having read the comments and taken a closer view it becomes clearer.

I really like the effect, the backlighting makes this shot. I also like the gentle shadows cast on this side of the wall, they add interest and life to this wonderful illusion shot. Well done!

Thanks, Gary. That glow from the back was a bright yard light. Thought it was going to cause some problems but it only did for shooting location. At this angle, it worked well.

Hard to believe this was taken in darkness, I like the ring of light around the door itself.

Thank you, John. This is some kind of restaurant/bed & breakfast kind of place that has been closed ever since I moved here. They are keeping the place up, though, since they have it up for sale for over 1.5 million.

A very nice shot, great gate, nice backlight that gives strength to the wall outlines and a lovely bell on it gives the idea of a church, great architecture and also a great element, I like the small paint on the wall that gives the shape of the gate that already the watcher see...hehehe, that is unique!!!
Excellent!
best regards!

Hi Dave... I quite like my 18-250, though I have only had it a few days so far. For the same reason as you, I was always getting dirt on the sensor and it's a REAL pain to try and clean it. So having a lens that covers almost everything I need (except the odd macro closeup) is the cat's meow for me! I thought of getting the 28-300mm but kinda wanted the wider angle, so I was quite pleased when the 18-250 was introduced (I believe to replace the 18-200). I don't think you can go wrong with either of them (though like I said, my 18-200 malfunctioned at cooler temps and up here in the "great white north" cooler temps are more the norm than the exception. The guy I got it from said he's never had that problem with any of those before and he had sold quite a few of them). So either way, I'm sure your son would love that lens.

Cheers, Gary

Sí, Alicia, conseguí una lente nueva justa sobre hace un mes cuando caí mi lente de 24-85 milímetro en NY y la rompí. Esta lente es apenas grande, toma las fotografías muy claras.

Gracias, Dave

Thanks, Gary. So far, I absolutely, positively love this lens. I've had it just over a month. First, it is so nice not to have to constantly change lenses and end up with dirt all over my sensor.

Second, it is just a very sharp and clear lens. It replaces my gold band Canon lens 85-300 (or maybe 75-300) that couldn't take a clear photo to save its neck.

I am considering buying my son the Tamron 18-200, would you advise against it? All he has is the Canon kit lens 18-55 MM so it would be a big improvement for him.

I agree with you there Dave, it's a very interesting doorway. You've captured it wonderfully. Hey, I have the same lens as you. What do you think of it? (I had the 18-200mm originally, but it didn't work properly in the cold!) Cheers, Gary
