The rich blues, tones and textures lend a lovely complexity to this photo. I can see this adorning some nice wall. Thanks for your comment on my photo.

Looking at this again I appreciate the well balanced lighting, the top left contrasts nicely with the bottom right. Yes, I agree. Sometimes photography is luck..and like Forest Gump says, "you never know what you're gonna get". The camera captures one little moment in time in the hour of life. One of the things I love about photography is that what you see with your eye and what you can get with your camera are often two different things and it's such a fun journey. Like my glass...I would never see it that way with my eye, I do love photography!! Thanks again Tony :)

Thanks, Linda, for the welcome and appreciation of the photo.
No, this is not against an "old" window, just a dirty one. I don't know where the curving lines come from, but posibly dust on the glass reflecting the light of the setting sun. All the lovely patterna are from the sunlight shining through the leaves in the garden.
The original is almost identical. Post processing was only to make it "pop" a little more. Sometimes you can be so lucky, don't you think!

This is really lovely...I love those blues against that background. The complementary colors and the beautiful light outside are captivating. Is that shot against an old window...I know curves can do some really neat stuff, is that how you got that effect on the window? Very creative and artistic rendition of this beautiful still life. Congratulations on the well deserved award, and welcome to UF...:)

Grazie, Roberto, for your welcome and comment on my photo. I am looking through the contributors to the site little by little, and I'm glad I found yours. There is so much variety, it will take time to examine them. A most impressive collection.

Thanks again, Phil.
Lucky you are to be able to see a front page. I have lost it to a notice that says "Back in 45 minutes". Time stands still for days on end. I learned how to sneek in around the side to get here, but can't find the Front Page anywhere. Oh well, "sic transit gloria mundi".

Oh, Tony, I am very happy for you! It is a great shot! The moment I saw it, I loved it!

Enjoy your success! It is not easy to win BIP's. If you go through many of the portfolios of members on the site you will see that!

I look forward to seeing more of your photos!

Cheers

Phil

PS Over the next few days, your photo will be on the front page! :)

Thank you, Virgis. An award for my first post. I am lost for words. I haven't even had time to look at other posted work, let alone to offer comments.
Best wishes to you.
Tony.

Phillip, I am stunned. This is the first ever award/recognition for me and it is awesome. All the credit goes to you for seeing whatever it was you saw in the image in the first place, and for acting on it. Thank you for that, and for telling me about UseFilm which is a very encouraging place and most interesting in its selection processes and in the quality of photos in its collections. My congratulations to the Editor and Staff for all they do.
Cheers, Tony

Thanks for the welcome, Michele, and thank you again for sharing your thoughts. I am interested in every response to every photo. Sometimes it can be confounding, but in the end some will rise to the top, and they are the outstanding ones.

Hi Tony ,
Welcome to UF! Your work is so interesting. After remarking on 'Blue Bottle in Sunset 2' I had to check out what #1 would be like . It is a nice entry but I am stuck on #2. I am learning, learning, so don't know proper tech terms in photography always, but I know what I like, and how it makes me feel. This might not be what you are interested in , but I do believe it is half the image anyway.
This image makes me feel peaceful and thoughtful ...
Thank You for sharing.
Michele~

Thanks for your comments, Mary. The colour in the background came from the setting sun, and was just right for the blue in the bottles. And the texture, of course, just happened!

Mary Brown   {K:71879} 8/14/2006
This is beautiful. The combination of vivid, rich colours is eye catching. The varied coloured and textured background wonderfully compliments the bottles. I really like your composition with the great use of lighting and the decoration on the tall bottle.

Hey, Tony, you've got the wrong flag beside your name. You'll need to go to 'My Preferences' to fix this up.

Did you get the e-mails that I sent you in the last hour or so?

Thanks, Robert, Leonardo.
And Phillip: thank you for introducing me to UseFilm. The site seems to be all that you promised it would be. I have a lot of exploring to do.
Comments are very numerous and encouraging. I hope they will also be critical at times, but I haven't seen many yet.
The International flavour is noticeable and very welcome.

When I saw this one on the other site, I felt it would be a great entry into the 'Glass' project. The colours and comp are wonderful!

Cheers
