Many thanks for stopping by Jinggoy and please, never call me 'sir' I'm Ray to absolutely everyone. I NEVER hand hold for macro work, I rarely use auto focus in case the lens picks up the wrong pof and I always AVOID flash in macro work, in any work really even though I have a very good external flash unit by Canon. My lightweight carbon fibre tripod goes EVERYWHERE with me in case of difficult situations. From memory the front element of the lens was about 6 inches from the hoverfly. I posted an attachment to a recent floral macro that shows the setup I use for macro work. Hope this has been of interest to you.
By the way, I had a quick visit in amongst your very fine work, well done to you...great stuff. Very best wishes to you....hope to 'see' you again.

Excellent macro shot! If I may ask some technical questions, did you handhold the camers with the extension tubes? How is the close focusing distance? Loos like you shot this with fill flash?

I knew you would be successful with this kind of shot! congratulations on all the worthy praise coming in for this one. It is a truely impressive macro. There is a certain softness mixed with clarity and definition. It's kind of hard to explain because the words seem to contradict each other. But it still makes sense to me. :)

What a superb macro shot!!!! Just look at those beautiful colors, that's some gorgeous fresh yellow!! And the DOF, clarity and detail are ab fab!! I mean you can count the hairs under its armpits... (a shave would be in order)...LOL!!! Excellent crop and composition as well... super Ray... looks like that extension tube was a great buy!!

Yes I want to get out and do some bugs. I was chasing butterflies the other day but couldn't get close enough for me and there where only a few of them. Excellent close up and try not to get stung. I know yellow jackets like this don't like me wearing yellow.

Fantastic color in this super macro. It looks like the extension tube is working out well for you.
This composition with the fly at an angle to the frame & off-center is very pleasing to look at.

Well Ray, it's fantastic,
in first view I thought the focus is not correct! but, as I look more, I found that there is a glow all over the shot that makes it absolutely lovely one,
the colors are really well balanced and the result is as great as you can above!
