Yeah, pretty much. I shoot a lot trying to get what I'm after. I did a lot less experimenting when I was shooting film. Now I feel comfortable shooting all kinds of maybes to see how far I can take things and what sorts of results I can create.
This one is tough because the shutter time is so small (1/8 second) and so that motion has to be rather sudden to capture the effect correctly. If I had more control of my ap in this camera I could use that to my advantage, but we have to work within the limitations presented to us.
Let me know how it goes.

I´d be happy to learn how to control motion making a photo like this. I guess it´s a question of getting out there and do some trial and errorlearning?

Marija - Better late than never, eh? Thanks for looking.
I included the reflections in the water exactly because I wanted to emphsize that associate with scenes reflected on water.

Susie - I was thinking the same thing. I tried a few crops that moved it in that direction, but felt they each had too much to cut out of the image--don't want to get rid of the interesting bits.
I am planning to revisit this scene and try for the same thing in landscape.
Thanks for looking.

I love the colour and overall effect James ~ would be interesting to see this done in landscape form but the vertical is effective given the angle of brush strokes... susie

Khaled - Thank you. This shot has the same tonal qualities as some of the early impressionist work. Take this painting by Carot ("Vue de Mantes") for example:
