Nicole - Thanks. Yeah, the new ones were shot on a day that was not as nice as this shot above. The bold sun really helps out in certain aspects.

Andre - Thanks. I agree with what you say about what a good abstract might contain.

Hi James,
I prefer this one at first viewing, of the two images that you recommended. I think there is more variety in the shot. I think these kinds of shots are also more effective (as this one is) when they have something in them for viewers to "half recognize" From a viewers point of view, we are looking at this one and thinking..."okay, I know what that thing is in the centre to the left...Oh, wait a minute, maybe not, let's have another look" A little bit of mystery is always a good thing, I think.
A very nice effect in this one BTW.
Andre

Yeah, I run around and jump and all sorts of things (when no one is watching). The still just sort of gives a general indication of the region. It also might help me return for another shoot (which I did recently for one location to try some different techniques). Anwya, thanks and have fun.

Very nicely done, btw.

Ah, I see what you mean about taking a still. I'm not sure it would work in my case...maybe if I took two or three as I sometimes spin the camera in a 360 degree motion and back, or possibly a distance shot from the edge of the room.

I'll have to try it... *smile* ...thanks for the suggestion.

Phil - Yeah, all I have right now is a Canon SD550. It's a great little camera, but it doesn't give me much control. I have to trick it a lot. I've come up with some great stuff using it and I won't get rid of it even after I get a dSLR (I'm looking at Canon again). I've stopped using my Minolta 35, but I am looking to replace it with a Canon body that will use the same lenses as the dSLR. That's the plan at any rate. We shall see.

Paul - Thank you. It's taken me quite a lot of effort to bring this kind of photography, um, down to Earth. I hope I can continue to create Luxagraphic images that are unique and interesting for years to come.

Thanks, Dave. Glad you like the image even without the humans.

Dave Arnold Dave Arnold   {K:55680} 7/14/2006
If you look in the center of the twril, there are two "figures" standing, one more apparent than the other. If just takes on a human form, with the one looking like a little tiny person wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. But it is not, it is the blue light making that "figure".

Just look at the center of the spin. The "figure" is maybe a 1/4 inch high in the photo and slightly off to the right. Once you said there are no persons in the photo, I start seeing where the light caused this "figure". No big whoop.

Dave

Dave - Can't say that I see the "white shirts" you write about, but there were no people in the scene while I was shooting.

Thanks for stopping by.

Really neat play with lights, you've got going. This one is dang good. Are those peple at the center, looks like three people in white shirts. Or is that just the light source doing that?

Oh, and it was American Airlines.

Avi - I have been very excited by what I've been able to accomplish using these camera techniques. When I see someone else on a similar journey I clap my hands and jump up and down. "What's it all about?" I shout just to what they'll say.

Thanks for stopping by.

Jennifer - Yes. It's as though the world (life) were spinning all around you and, though the path you are on is steady, it's hard to keep your footing due to all that spinning all around.

Hia James !!..

Great abstract.. and wonder-work with camera motion.. now I know why you were so enthused about Jennifer's pic the other day !! :)

Marija - Thank you. As usual it comes down to camera motion. It's a kind of spinning motion on this shot (I guess that's obvious). Many shots miss my subject (since my camera fires at will at not directly on my command as would a film camera). It's also a matter of finding the right light conditions in the woods. Check back tomorrow and I'll post one that's more normal for comparison.
