I would agree with the crop. The bit of old gold color was interfering with the rest of the color scheme, too. Yes, colors!! I think that is what this photo is primarily about. I like the perspective also.

Good documentary. The question here is less more. In order to pickup the policeman on the left--the only one looking at the camera and adding another dimension--you also end up with a weaker image. The tighter crop is clean and doesn't pull the reader's eye away from the core story. It is tough to throw 'good stuff' away, but I believe an editor would have done the same thing to this image.
