Absolutely wonderful photograph Doyle. It has that story book kind of look to it. I love photographs that make you wonder about what is happening in them, like what the mother and child are doing or going to do. Also what is going on outside of sight. The lighting and fog make this a strong piece. Just an overall strong photo.

With so many images missed whilst I was away, this one did escape my attention Doyle and deserves attention.
It is a terrific study and beautifully composed. Our Nessa is wonderful with her lighting techniques and I am in awe of her work. I would say that you have been brushed with her magic in this one my friend for it looks superb and so in line with her shots. I love how you have caught a glimpse of colour in your subjects' clothing. I love too the wonderful moodiness that radiates from the mistiness. Well done to you Doyle this is an excellent shot and thank-you for drawing my attention to it. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray

This was a trip the wife and I took to Hermosa Beach to capture a spectacular sunset! :)
Didn't work out that way as the fog started to roll in.
I took the shot here, and then, using selective saturation, I enhanced the blue saturation (PS4 Elements) and the lighting to slightly darken the peripheral and to make the blue hue richer. Other than the tweaking of light and color . . . the shot is as it was on the foggy beach. (Naturally, I cropped for composition).

Thanks Eze . . . I agree, but this was ACTUAL fog too . . . I just adjusted lighting, saturation, crop, contrast, etc., etc., etc. :) So - in short - there was some nice fog to go along with those nice blue shadows and create this foggy mood! :) I knew you'd appreciate the color since you use it so well in your portfolio!

Thanks for the honest opinion. Lack of light is automatic in heavy fog and at night. I wasn't concerned about that. My thought was to convey an image and a feeling. In that goal, I have succeeded (IMO).

Oh, Doyle, this is a great image!
I find it conjures up, and evokes, a wide range of emotions and thoughts. To me, the scene appears to be one of despair, misery, sadness, aimlessness, sorrow and melancholiness.
At the same time, I think it portrays a bond between the mother and the daughter. The two are united in their purpose - they are in the situation together - travelling the same path.
You probably think I'm a bit mad (most of us photographers have to be half the time!! LOL), but this image has caused my imagination go a little wild! LOL
A wonderful image! I've enjoyed having a close look at it!

Thanks Annemette. It was quite nice but we went there the day BEFORE the heat spell struck . . . Marlyce even got cold. Unlike the moors, the dogs aren't permitted on this particular stretch of beach . . . I think. Out of bounds for hounds I think . . . :)
Your comment to the wife was phrased properly and not misunderstood . . . until you corrected yourself for fear that it MIGHT be! Then the whole thing just became downright funny. Of course, I enjoy humour (Coarse or Norse). . . And you know how we "Californians" enjoy fun, not to mention funny (but that's enough politics for now).

Very strong and powerful image; the strong tone works very well, as does the off centered composition. The strenght in this photo is the minimalistic feel, barely any peripheral subjects. Very good photo!!
