About Well, it's been pretty rainy for the past few days but I decided to go wandering in our garden during a break in the weather. Turns out that the poppies have popped (not to mention many other flowers). Because all photographers are *required* to take macros any time the come across a poppy, :-) I took a couple of the required macros with the new Casio. One thing I don't like about this camera is I have to go through a squence of 5 steps to get into macro mode - my old Sony U20 just focused really close normally - no buttons to push. But, when I saw this shot on my monitor - POW! Even more interesting, there was nothing I could do with software to improve the picture. Except to prepare it for posting, this is what came out of the camera.

Excellent macro, the details on the center 'heart' of the flower are great and here the way the petals are gives an idea of a ....hole...a cave, excellent!!!
Best regards!

Lovely Marco with vibrant colours and composition. I would have liked to see the two green patches (bottom left, top middle) cropped out as my eye is lead away from the beautifully captured centre.
Fantastic Photo... a real favourite.

I really like the way you've gone in so close - and filled the frame with brilliant orange.
It looks lovely and sharp, and the rain drops add that little extra touch - very nice!

Jim, I have been looking at your portfolio. Really nice work. Is it the garden or the photography you enjoy more?

What I particularly like about this image is those little streaks of soft green peaking out from the edge between the petals. Kind of like they are the supporting cast. They give a subtle sense of environment.

Bill.

P.S. And I especially like the dew drops. I would certainly think, when it comes to photographing floral subjects that a spray bottle should be in the bag as essential equipment. This is quite evident in your "When you got it, flaunt it", image.

Great macro and such excellent detail. Almost looks like an alien popping out of the flower. I have never seen a poppy this close before. This is amazing!!!I really like the circular pinwheel pattern in the center. What fun to see.

Nice crop on this poppy shot. Shot some of my wifes poppies but didn't think of a tight crop like yours. Yes, mine did not turn out well. Very nice capture. Your other floral shots are also beautiful.

Another poppy but different, Jim! It is your poppy, and I like the way the seed pod peeks out from beneath the pedal blanket. Nicely done!
