Red touch yellow: deadly fellow
Red touch black: friend of Jack

Or, I *think* that's what I was taught as a kid. :-)

I don't know if I'll remember, red next to yellow, but you learn something everyday. Thanks Paul.

red and yellow together make it a coral snake - dangerous!

I don't buy it...it's all just hype put out by "Knott's Berry Farm". The only poisoness ones to worry about is the King Cobra, the BLACK MAMBO, and your basic rattlesnake...oh and a Water Mochasin (spelling?)....this one does have an evil smile though

Yes, Gayle, you remember correctly.
This is a coral snake.

While they're ordinarily quite docile, this one is docile to-the-max. It's dead. My boss brought it in to show me after he found it in his front yard and whacked it with a garden hoe.

Due to his advancing age and declining vision, Roger picked up a pretty, but poisonous snake. :(

Its two, two snakes in one. Well done and such a great shot too. The contrast between the gray and the small colourful snake as well as the texture differences are simply gorgeous. Regards Ron.
