About Another attempt at abstract photography . . . A clear container filled with liquid (nothing mysterious, I chose water), set on a flat panel covered with aluminum foil (shiny side up), backlit and a sidelight from a mag (which provided the dark curve visible), saturated hue adjustment and cropped (of course) - One flat sided cat's eye marble dropped and the wake photographed - f/5.3; 1/80sec; 66mm

Thanks for commenting Koteiba: As it happens, a nebula is a diffuse mass of interstellar dust or gas or both, visible as luminous patches or areas of darkness. The color depends entirely on nearby star systems and can vary widely (like the Horsehead, Crab and Orion Nebulas. ;)
----I'm glad you like my attempt and appreciate your comment.

Doyle I <~~~~~

You're cracking me up! I'm so sorry to have ruined your chances of becoming weathy from the truthseeking pilgrims! It's so funny because I just now saw the image of the upheld arms! I just couldn't get past the snail the first time.

:)Sheila

Thanks Sheila . . . Now I see a snail too! The religious figure with the upheld arms I ORIGINALLY saw (which might have placed my home on the news as a destination for truthseeking pilgrims and made me wealthy selling souvenirs) has now been replaced by the image of a snail! THANKS A LOT! :P
- Thanks for the comment, though . . . really.

Thank you Marcus. I would give my right arm to be able to photograph birds like you do . . . wait a minute, that would kind of defeat the purpose. :P
Do you handhold that lens??? Amazing work my friend!

Del:
Couldn't agree with you more on what you saw in the abstract - Hence the title Faux (French for artificial) Nebula. You're right about the comments . . . some people desire constructive critiques but the truth is that many wish for confirmation only. It makes it challenging to see what type one should leave. In your case, I felt the potential was that you wouldn't mind honest advice (although it never needs be taken) since skill comes from this advice (mine did) and continues only when you have meaningful critiques. You seemed to have a natural talent (IMO) for which a few words about what I felt my be considered advantageous. The challenge is not to alienate anybody and we all look at our work as our own creative product. Some people do not wish to hear anything negative about their 'babies' . . . though I can't understand why they would put them up in a critique forum if that's so. At any rate . . . I'm glad to hear you weren't offended.

Doyle I <~~~~~

Dear Doyle alias the California Kid:-)
Great abstract photo! I love the mystique that you have managed to unfold here.
All the best,

Very creative. I like the color. I see a snail in the yellow reflection. It's the kind of photo that I just want to keep looking at to see if I can see more. Very interesting. Well done!

I am glad you explained how you achieved the result you filmed. I agree with those who said that what you see in an abstract depends on who is viewing the object. When I first glanced I thought of a NASA photo form space and perhaps this was a close of of Florida.

I want to also thank you for the thoughtful and meaningful suggestions on two of my photos. So often commets are superficial and not intended to help you imporve. Thanks for taking the time to offer suggestions. Del.

Great experiment. It seems that a figure is trying to reach out to the viewer from the depth of the composition. :) Andree

Hi Doyle, Interesting abstract; good choice of subject, and nicely off centered composition. I'd loose a bit of the negative space on the right, though. Think it migght balancethe composition.

Cheers,

Hugo

Wow . . . Eze - The Argentinian Philosopher!
Very cool and I agree. I think Al had it right and the differing interpretations of abstract work clearly signal two things: [1] the mind of the viewer and [2] the success (abstractness) of the composition. Thanks for the comment, my friend.

Mary:
I appreciate the comment very much . . . as an abstract, differing interpretations that make sense when explained signify (in my mind) some degree of success. Your symbolic interpretation was cool! Thanks.

Sometimes I think that abstract paints and photographs function as a Rorschach ink-blot test (tool of sychodiagnosis).
I other words: When you see something, that process (to see) is a state of your brain.
What we see is without limits, depending the state of our minds.
In a extreme position of this posture, Alan Watts said: “Reality is only a Rorschach ink-blot, you know”.
Best regards, Doyle.

Great idea and image Doyle! Really good to hear how you did it too. I'd never have guessed! The colours are really gorgeous and striking in themselves- especially with the lighting and shapes you have. Could be a symbol of trying to reach a heart- the nearer you get, the more mishapen it becomes and is unobtainable.

Superb experience. I like too much abstracts. It`s an exquisite and sophisticated artistic category.
Here I prefer to see an underwater sun light, and It is possible to feel the pressure.
Well done, Doyle.
