Following on from your picture title, this is very like I imagine the area around Grendel's mere to be like in 'Beowulf': 'dark crag-rooted trees / that hang in groves hoary with frost'...
I like the blues here: something very mystical, like Miladin said, especially since the foreground trees seem to merge into the background a little - the subtle touches of green leaves stop it from appearing monotonous blue, and really make this stand out. The way the light picks out the form of the dog is the perfect focal point: I wonder if it would be even better if it were not so central, maybe further to the right (I might tentavively suggest a crop, but it's a personal preference thing).
