One of the nicest scapes of the Golden Gate I have ever seen. Very good job on the exposure!

Best wishes,

Absolutely AMAZING. The water looks like liquid glow.

You just keep getting better and better. While I really love all of your work, I think these city-scapes are your strong point!

You chose the right project. It certainly is a magical glow and so appropriate for the landmark. Awesome is such an overused term, so I shall simply say I am in awe :)

Ah yes, I have read your thoughts a few times on 'that' subject. Not that I want to start a discussion - but allow me tell you a something that might interest you. When I was 15, I spent 12mths in school in Oregon and had one of the best times of my life. USA was our big brother in those days and we all thought it was the coolest place to travel and generally the lifestyle was what we wanted to emulate. What a huge contrast to how Aussie's regard your country 16 years later! It was almost embarrassing to tell my friends where I was travelling last month. Of course given that I'm completely uninterested in politics, I can very easily separate the special people and places I've experience from 'the dudes in the white house' lol.

French Flag? Cause I live here (LA) and I live there (Paris). Since my opinion on the "leadership" in the USA is lower than low at this point I'll stick with the French - LA ain't bad on ludes and wine - lol ( It's all about the Dude in the White House- and his mates - to answer your question seriously)

Simply STUNNING work Peta!! What is the USM on the lens . . . a darken filter of some sort to allow this Soooooper slow shutter speed and yet not cause overexposure? This is gorgeous, with the warm golden glow and very impressive.

Regards,
Doyle I <-----

Hmmm. If that is true, maybe I should call you "Pet" rather than "Peta"? [grin] If you were mine I'd sure give you a nice long run off the leash where you could use your great talent as widely as possible!

April 8th around 9.30 Jim after a gorgeous day in the Napa! I have played with the white balance in RAW before - great effects hey. So glad you find this a little different, that was a huge priority for me. Cheers Jim :)

Rob and I thought the same thing Mort! They look like they are floating - but promise I did nothing in PS to this image aside from a slight adjustment in levels.

Thanks you Kiarang - I've always made an effort to give many aspects of photography a go. No sense in limiting yourself to one style when I dont know yet what I am best suited to (or enjoy most). Thanks again for your support!!

Hi Steve - very jealous you live close, I'd love to! Probably the only US city I'd leave Melbourne for. Get yourself down there with the 5D immediately!! Rob Graziano was with me at the time using his, and the difference in clarity is enormous (made me want to go crawl in a corner, lol) Thanks for your comment :)

Jim Goldstein   {K:21230} 4/23/2006
When was this taken? If you were in the area we could have met up for coffee. I like this quite a bit. The towers are a bit over exposed but the reflected light in the water and motion blur of clouds in the sky provide a great backdrop. A different take on a often photographed subject is always refreshing. I can see this being a square format as well... the bottom of the image doesn't have to be there, but it works eitiher way. BTW another fun thing to do would be to experiment with the white balance if you shot this in RAW format.

Mort Gage   {K:2743} 4/23/2006
wonderful (and so appropriate) golden tones. a truly stunning image. only nitpick...the rocks @ right seem "funky" to me...like they were added in post-processing.

Peta, I really like your style, you are one of my favorite photographers. I like this picture allot, amazing capture and wonderful exposure, I can't find a tiny miny fault in it, it is simply perfect, but what makes me really wonder is, how come this one didn't win an award?
Very well done and keep up the good work,
Regards,

Ah, such a nice shot of an icon near my hometown. This is really great and not a view normally seen. Super exposure and composition. I can only hope that I can use my new 5D to get such good results. You got a lot out of your trip, nice.

This is absolutely beautiful. I ahve always seen the GG either in RED or in B&W, but never in Orange. With that kind of exposure, the water looks like ice. Very well done, loved it. I would slightly crop it at the bottom.
