About From four to choose, but one is true,
Of color, contrast, tones and hue,
Which one would you want to take with you?

Yes well, while the software may give a technically correct colour balance, it may not always be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. I discovered that while experimenting with my sunset shots. In the end, I left them as is...

Rina:

Yeah - the warmth really makes the spring flower bloom somehow. Weird. The bottom two shots are color managed to a neutral profile. The upper left is the RAW shot.

This is an interesting chunk of color theory - the software will tell you to balance the color to the bottom images, but the yellow and red tones from the sunlight really warm up the flower for a more earthy and springlike rebirth.

Know any good drycleaners Michael? I think I've just done mine in as well!

Now, about the flowers, top right does it for me too. As always, outstanding work...

Cheers
Rina.

If you're ever in the SF bay area... you've gotta come by and see the new facility! It's nuts. (in a good way). You, being a geek like me, will smile as you walk to the front door, and see the Yoda water fountain. I'll post a pic just for you here when I get home :) After 15 years, I still freak out where I work. ..but each day.. still a job to do.

One very cool thing, is working with John Knoll for all this time. I love hearing the stories about how he and his brother started photoshop. good stuff! ..and always a lesson to be learned from him!

cheers!

It's the same photograph. You and another person from my work make two votes for the upper right image.

Just knowing that one of my photographs was on any screen at *your* work for an hour will keep me smiling all day. Did I tell you that I got the "Beyond the Digital Realm" book as a gift for my birthday one year? I even have a T-shirt. I am such a geek...

Well Michael...

I've had this up on my screen at work for a little over an hour, and here's my conclusion.

Just getting back from lunch, I pulled the image up, and have decided that the top right is my personal pick. Not an easy one, as there's much going on. What sold me, was the balance of the white petals against the earth brown background, and the saturation of the flower core. It all works for me, more so that the metalic bottom two, and the top left that to me, appears too soft.

Well done, and I like the composition! Looking forward to seeing your pick, and the single larger version.

cheers,
-joel
