I love the communication in this image, from the people in the backgound looking at eachother, and the main models reflection looking at the camera, theres someting in her eyes that says she's aware and thinking of the people behind her.....not really much like a helmut newton shot but clear inspiration and done in your own style. as for the flash, i agree with claire murray, the more unconventional the better, whos to say what you should and shouldnt do, i think it looks uber cool, disguising the reflection of the ambiguous figures in the background.....great style! katy
I think that the reflected flash makes the image...who says that these are the rules of photography? with the flash, it disguises the other two figures in the image and that is a really original technique, making you have to really study the image to understand the meaning behind the shot, this being the many gazes. boring photography is the photography that follows the 'rules' and i think that this shot, and the rest of your work is anything but boring! all the best claire
