Hi Sheila...still can't post but I can comment. Stupid machine!!! Repairs commence tomorrow.

These scenes of beggars can be seen throughout the World and in some instances I find them heart-wrenching. Beautifully captured shot sweetie and a great expression on the subjects face.

I am now going next door to cheer myself up with your lovely child's picture......here I go...

LMAO...

Photo Shop 5.5 is better than anything you have thus far, I'm quite sure.

I use Photo Shop Elements 2.0 which is worse than what you have, but I also use FxFoto which is very limited and Photo Shop CS 8.0 which rocks if I could use it... LOL ... I think I'm getting PSCS2 which is the stuff I hear...

Get to using the Rebel XT, right now young lady,

Yeah, I'm scanning my digital photos now, isn't that cool? Just kidding! I changed the camera in the scroll down menu, but for some reason it still said Canon Rebel XT. I think I fixed it.

I did get the Photo Shop 5.5, but I don't really understand it. Is that what you use? I wasn't sure if I should take the time to try to figure it out (if it was good enough software) or if I should just stick with what I know until I get Photo Shop.

Sheila,

I get everything above you said except the flat bed scanner part. What would you need a scanner for digital for? Oh, maybe you used film?

At any rate your Canon XT, should have come with Photo Shop 5.5, or something better than the Picture it software...

Hi Marty-

Thanks for the help on this one. I know exactly why this one has a soft focus. Two reasons: first of all it was scanned on my flatbed scanner, which is not top of the line, and second I used Picture It to work on it. And then there's also the fact that I didn't use my zoom lense for the shot, so now that's three reasons. :)

It's amazing to see how much is lost in a photo when I crop it using Picture It. The photo goes almost completely blurry sometimes.

I have to agree with you on the framing of the shot too. In a book I just read, the author repeated these words throughout the whole book, "Get it right in-camera first, don't rely on photoshop to make the photos great."

Thank you for the help. I always appreciate it!

:)Sheila

Sheila,

Nice capture my friend. I did buy my Son the Rebel XT kit for Christmas. I make advise him to shoot everything in manual mode like I do... Including manual focus... Not sure why this photo is so soft, but I don't have the 28mm...

I would have used a zoom, or a 50mm, or above for a portrait... I tell my Son to crop with the lens 1st then on the computer.

Maybe that's why you got the soft focus, by cropping on the puter...

Hope you don't mind but I played a bit with your capture found below...
