Lisa - I am not certain if Phil replied to your comment or mine but you might want to check back and see what he had to say. I can be found at the South Bay Camera Club at most meetings.

Cheers

Hmmm. Rather him than me. Definitely wet-suit weather. Nice capture of the half-misted pier and the overcast sky. Brrrrrr!

Thanks for pointing it out Hugo. Its not on the image that I have as my desktop background. Apparently I did some a second session of unshaprp masking. FYI USM can be done to improve local micro contrast which really helps most images for the web. You do regular USM except
1) use a spot size of 40-80 pixels.
2) use a low amount of sharpening, 20-35
3) keep the threashold near 0 or 1
Try it, its like lifting a vale of haze. The overdone leads to a halo which isnt always that bad,

Hi John, good perspective in this shot, hinting at the presence of the horizon ;D. It's the curve in the surf that makes this photo tick for me. Just out of curiosity, what did you do to the bridge? there seems to be a lighter area / halo around it, strongly apparent under the bridge and on the right. Shadow/highlights in CS2?

Cheers,

hugo

The pier adds some nise perspective to the piece. There is just enough happening in the photo to make interesting, but not busy. You've found that magic balance.

I always look forward to seeing your images, especially the ones taken locally in the South Bay.

I'm hoping for less rain tomorrow and getting out to take a few photos at the beach.

Even with the bad weather and overcast sky the beach is still one of the most beautiful places.
