Jim - thank you for the nice comment. It caused me to go back and look at this image again. The lighting is quite strange. the light at the horizon is clouds which are bright in infra red. That combined with the bright path give an illusion of the sun being low and behind the pillar. In fact its quite high over the roof. Then there is the heat reflecting off the stone wall on the right lighting up what should be dark rafters. Once again I am surprised by what the camera sees in IR versus what my eyes see. Thanks again for commenting. - John B

I love the way light is bouncing off the wall and ceiling, and seeming to come from the horizon too.

Very nice tones and contrast. The IR effect works very well. Sascha

I would say, great if one man's hover is another man's "what the heck is holding that up", John ;-) From a purely technical aspect, the same indirect illumitation of the rafters through reflected light would be still there even of the wall at the right would be left out. But from the point of personal gusto one of course can include/omit anything.
have a nice time at the tattoo festival!

Odd how one man's hover is another man's 'what the heck is holding that up' viewpoint. I read the email from you before seeing your crop, so I cropped it myself. REALLY didn't like it. Ah well. What the wall did do was bounce a lot of infra red up into the rafters and that is what gives it that luminous touch. Thanks for offering the ideas. now I'm off to a tattoo festival. John B

I find the sense for perspectuive and depth quite strong here, John, with all thge leading lines converging to the end of the gallery at the bottom right. And there is also a sense of emptyness and silence which the lighting makes even more "unreal". It conveys very much the look and feel of "out of space and out of time" with the used exposure. What about leaving the white wall at the right edge out? I think that the attached image is even more "empty" as the building parts seem to "hover".
Cheers,
Nick
