HI Paul,
We are flying in on the 14th. Are checking out 'hill country' and other area of Austin. Have a granddaughter in Leander. Still in the 'considering' stage, will know more after exploring!
I check the Austin temps, don't seem a whole lot different than here right now. Maybe a bit colder in the evenings.

When will you be there?
Late January / early February can be pretty cold (by Texas standards) but typically not much rain...only about 2 inches for the month.

Yes, Phil. we were having lunch across the river, and I had my (equivalent) 28-135mm lens on the 20D.
I saw one of the waiters in the door, took a shot, and sat back down. This was about the 4th or 5th try to get the repitition of stars in the shot over a time span of about 45 minutes.
