I think you have the lighting completely right - morning on sandstone is great, and a nice mixture of foreground detail with background.

Nice rule of thirds on the horizontal to show off the ground and the columns.

I think the only trick here is to lighten up the foreground which appears to be in shadow, and to apply the rule of thirds to the sandstone elements - which appear to be centered and thus a little static.

For a greater sense of expansiveness, you would have to go with a wide, wide, lens and show the recession out into the massive columns, raising the camera up a little bit.
