Thanks Doyle, My typical iso on the 20D was 400 for birds in flight as the shutter speed needs to be up around 2000, thus leading to noise in the shadowed areas once lighted, now with the 30D I can shot 320 or 250 ISO at time still getting the high shutter speeds i need but with less noise, one of the few useable new features of the 30D along with the larger lcd and spot metering.. Thanks again...

Critique this? Stunning! Wondrous work Marcus.... I am curious to know why the ISO 320 instead of the oft seen 200 . . . do you set that or is it auto?
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Riny, This is a Foresters Tern, they nest here in the SF area from up north as far as alaska, they are really fun to watch and shoot as they dive for fish and chase all the other birds and people for that matter away from there area. Thanks for you comment and take care!

Excellent as always Marcus, the birds all really stand out well against the background. Perfect exposure with plenty of detail in the shadow areas without blowing the whites in the full sun, nicely composed and exquisitely timed.

Awesome shot Marcus. To take a shot like this requires lots of time, good weather, the perfect light, excellent skills, knowledge about their behavior, being extremelly patient, and you have it all. I got a similar picture but I cut the tip of the one of the wings. Hopefully I can get another shot this weekend. This guys are growing so fast that I am afraid next time I go back they will be gone. Any way, congratulations for this superb capture. Take care. Yamil PD. Have you seem the Golden Eagle lately?

Well to be honest the male and female go out like every 15 mintues and come back with a fish, they screem when they see a parent coming in with food so you get warning, at 5 fps it really was not as difficult as a crisp bird in flight shot where you only have one try. so with all that worthlessness being said i would say 5 or 6 drop offs to get the angle I wanted, which equals around 75 clicks LOL..
