  Q. Question about scans....
David M Roberts
Asked by David M Roberts    (K=914) on 6/14/2006
When my latest round of scans came back from the lab I noticed something a bit sketchy when I loaded them into PhotoShop. The sky had a blue tint to it and any dodge and burn would enhance the blue in the image.

This is not a problem once the image is converted to monochrome or greyscale but this throws me for a loop as the images were shot with B&W film to begin with????

Film used= Tmax-100

David,

It sounds like the lab scanned the B&W film in RGB, so the image can easily be non-neutral. Just convert to greyscale. There's no need for fancy techniques because each channel should be almost identical.

Best,
Helen

I agree with Helen. Sometimes I scan BW negatives as colors negatives and then I convert them in monochromatic, I do that when I have some exposure problems in an image, I noticed it comes out in a better way. Bye, Max
