Most labs are protected in one way or another against this sort of thing. Read the fine print on the envelope tabs they give you. At most they will probably give you a free roll of slide film with free developing.
A friend of mine had a few shots disapear, and they did turn up after a few months-they may have been misplaced, so dont give up hope yet. How long have they been missing now?
ALso,Keep a close eye though for photo theft, ive heard of sneaky lab technicians selling off other peoples images for stock photography. Good luck, and in the worst case, its a good learning experience. Sad though, i know! :(

It leaves you without those slides, it's that simple. As CorieLynn said, all labs use a disclaimer stating they have no responsibility in case of loss of film other than replacing it with a similar amount of fresh film (which would constitute a single roll in your case), they don't even state it has to be the same kind of film so they could refund you a roll of cheap supermarket C41 APX film to replace expensive professional slidefilm at 120 format (to give an example), though most will give you the same kind of film they lost.

If youre a frequent customer and its a pro lab, you may be able to pull a few strings to get your good film back-with developing. Just let them know that you wont ever come back if they dont! (and in the future, be weary of handing over anything to them for enlargements or reprints...)

Do not "fool" with Clarke Labs. They once left two rolls of film scatched from end to end,. Walmart does a much better job than Clarke. Chuck
