About
If you are ready...
...it is peaceful and tranquil.

But only if you are ready.

Undershot with 1/500sec, overworked in Picasa2, crooked, grainy, blow-outs. Taken inside an old railroad caboose.

The light source is from a UFO that was hovering outside. OK, not really, just tricky evening sunlight coming in from unseen windows above and behind me, along with the windows on the right.

Taken Nov. 24, 2005. It's technically lousy and I've been reluctant to post this image. But I like it.

I have a Nikon D80 & good lens on order, this is one I'll reshoot when the sun gets aligned again.

Hehe...very good descriptions..."light source is from a UFO"
very interesting idea...but where's the agent Scully & Mulder? :)
Excellent work, nice wooden pattern, love the warm colours
and the nice play with light on the floor. Expressive
work, nicely done my friend! 7+++

Best wishes dear Kes!
Robert

Hi Hugo -

Thanks so much for your suggestions, I like your version a lot! It took awhile for me to match (sort-of) what you have done, and I had to use the original to do that.

Now I'm messing around with some others taken at the same time...great fun!
:)

Thanks again for the ideas! I'll try to post something off this in a day or two.

And dang the aliens!

Hi Kes,

Good uphaul of a very high contrasty photo - quite a challenge, I presume.

I hate it when UFO's defy the common laws of physics - they tend to mess with things. So it's not your fault it turned out technically lousy - Just commend yourself of getting this much out of it - I know I do!

I think squaring this photo by removing the lower part would show those bloody aliens messing with everything that we feel comfortable with.

I like the design left by the pattern of light, though, rather mysterious - and quite a dynamic array of checkers / spades or whatever you call those shapes. might even be worth the effort turning this into a low key photo, if you see what I mean.

Cheers,

Hugo

Kes,

This does look good, in a sci-fi mystery kind of way. One thing for sure, if you would have toned down on the searing, you wouldn't have gotten the great exposure and soft colouring on the wood.
A nice image. It will be interesting to see what happens when you try it again.

Thanks Nathalie for looking and commenting. I think it's a combination of the warm tones and confusing light source that makes it interesting to me. Of course I'm biased, so it's nice to hear what others think.

I really like this- the length and the angle makes the lighting so striking. Love the texture and warmth of the wood. A unique image. The lighting really is strong and intriguing.
