Well, it's interesting of you to ask...all of these granite boulders fell from the Sandia mtns. I will probably post a few pictures of the mountain range itself soon, but supposedly, when the earthly forces converged to push up the 10,000 foot mountains, they pushed a lot of extra boulders down. So, this picture was taken at about 6,750 feet in elevation, where the boulders are still pretty huge. When you get closer to my house at 5,500 feet, all of the boulders are about a 1/4 of the size of these and most are more granular, making up our soil. I guess this is why NM is a geologic heaven.
