About
Wall of a former blast furnace in Duisburg, Germany. Some of these walls (not this one) are used by mountaineers now to practice their skills. I flipped the image horizontally; for some reason, the abyss appears deeper to me, this way. I can't explain it... must be some optical illusion. I would be interested to hear if you also have this experience.
Hi Hermen, Very well balanced composition, and a perfect capture. The textures, materials and the subtle colour changes are very well captured.
Interesting issue. No clue as to why flipping the image horizontally to create a feeling of depth. Naturally, I tried to flip it back after reading your comment. And I think you are right... maybe it has to do from reading left to right, while the left starts lower than the horizon, which makes it less "comfortable" which is being perceived as an idea of depth. Does this make any sense? It is a bit far fetched, but the best I can do....
Good luck with your C5050z... I enjoy mine alot, quite nifty for the average point and shoot type of shots, but too elaborate to handle in "Real" photography. It fits nicely into a pocket of a coat, but it's easily switched on if you're not careful. And that nasty beep and grinding sound when you leave the lens cap on...
You seem to be not very succesful with this submission, but I like it very much. The few colors match very well and the simple composition is good. It is nice and sharp. Hope you get more visitors and comments Hermen.
