About	On March 1, 1565, Estácio de Sá founded in Urca, between the hills of Dog Man and Sugar Loaf, the City of Rio de Janeiro. In this same place was built the Fortress of St. John, and a large Fort, the Fort Saint Joseph in 1578 - the third oldest and strong in the country. In 1872, the Fort St. Joseph was completely renovated and equipped in order of D. Pedro II, as a result of the episode known as "Question Christie." After a massive work, the new Fort San Jose (in portuguese) went on to have a set of 17 bunkers, built in stone on stone, topped by railings and platforms all in granite. The set was supplemented by a large bunker on vault, the evidence of weapons of the time. It was equipped with 15 cannons anti-loading Whitworth 75 mm caliber and 20 caliber cannons for less. That's the place you can see now.
