About This was shot as we cruised through one of the dramatic passages on the Polar Star Ice Breaker, not long after a storm relented. The sun was trying to break through adding to the drama.
I am also writing a blog on the trip for www.acdsee.com the photo software company if you are interested in checking it out. It is still in process I am adding more everyday.

The high sky lends real majesty to this magical capture and the light does indeed bring a surreal feel....Memorable photograph.

Thanks Tim, my holidays were excellent and I hope yours too. So you moved to AB... :-) Good luck in your new home; as you describe it, I envy you. Colder but a lot more light than here in Victoria. I have been here in TMP for about 2 years now; a little bit isolated for my liking, pitch dark after sunset, nice for stargazing but not for talking a walk.

All the best!

Francisco

HEYYYY....FRANCISCO!....long time no see. Hope your holidays went well and that you enjoyed yourself. Glad to hear from you. I am now living in AB on a horse farm and looking at the mountains from my window. The sun is shining and i am enjoying the change of scene for now. I did not realize that you were living around ten mile point. My old stomping grounds right next to the U of V.
Cheers my friend!

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Congratulations, Tim! You even manage dramatic cloudscapes in the Antarctic! I still can't get over the irridescent blue ice and the way it contrast with the grey monotones! Works well in the square format, too!

Hi Tycho,
I might have cropped the top a bit except I wanted to include the spot of sun which was a cool blue in contrast to the warmer yellowish cloud cover. Thanks for your interest in pointing out your perspective.

The whole of South America is stupendous and affordable....Patagonia in Argentina is beyond belief. Then if you like that the Antarctic is not far away....might have to stow away on a ice breaker to see the sights. But really it was a experience that i would do again in a flash! Soooo Raw and dramatic.
