About This shot was taken along the Newcastle coastline at around 1pm. I wouldn't normally shoot at this time of day but I was trying out a new 6stop neutral density filter (ND64X). I see great a potential for this filter for slow shutter effects with day light colours (B+W 106). 18mm, f22, 1.5 sec, ISO 100 RAW. Comments and critiques are most welcome (or a suggestion for a title).

This is very well done. The new filter gave you a great long exposure. Great work.
You have a very impressive portfolio that you can be proud of. Don.

Wow, long exposures in the middle of the day!
I have a lot to learn, thank goodness there are people out there who are kind enough to explain what they do. CC

Thanks Johno, I'm having a few days away shortly so I plan on experimenting some more.

I saw a similar streetscape to what you mention taken with a Hoya ND400 (10stop).

Regards,
Collin.

great effect Collin and worth experimenting some more with I'm sure.

I've seen something similar when an ND was dense enough for a 10sec exposure in daylight of a streetscape, apparently this ND they've used to view the street with no traffic both cars and people and are used by architects (or someone in that trade area)

regards
Johno

Hi Shane, I was tossing up between the Hoya ND400 10 stop and the B+W 106 6stop. I chose the B+W as it is not quite as dark through the viewfinder (my 11-18mm is 4.5-5.6) and it is slim enough to use at 11mm with no vignetting. Let me know if you get something similar, i'd like to see the results.
Thanks for commenting, Collin.

The long exposure does wonderful things to the water. Looks like your new filter is a winner.

Thanks for commenting Dave. I agree, I try to get the most from each occasion. I don't think I will going back to this spot though, some parts of the cliff are very unstable.
Regards,
Collin.

A beautiful coastline shot, Collin, with great colours and good composition! I see what you mean about the slow shutter speed potential here, too.
Well done for a test shot! (You might as well make them all count, right?)
Dave.
