About
Misty subjects can often be conveyed best with the addition of grain. It tends to add atmosphere. Kodachrome 200 an old but very sharp film stock is suitably endowed with very obvious grain clouds. This was taken at Kirkwall harbour, Orkney just after sunrise where for a few minutes the rising sun managed to find a small gap and cause the panelling of the ships to blaze orange. Although an old image it has long been a favourite of mine. Please check out my website at www.transientlight.co.uk
You are right, some times the grain adds very great special effect on the image, old days photographers used to push up or down the process time or temprature of their films to gain the grain as a creative textures.
This image is very impresive with its exposure and composition.
