WOW Kathy...I love shots like this. I don't know if it is the idea of riding the rails and going somewhere but this shot calls me:-) Makes me want to grab my camera and run down to the local train tracks and lay down and get a shot of the tracks and the MILLIONS OF CONDOS AND HOUSES AROUND ME... Great job.

Nice composition Kathy! I love the way you have positioned the rails left of center in the frame, then having the tracks curve toward the center in teh distance. The DOF is fantastic in keeping the foreground sharp while still clearly following the rails into the distance. The sky is working very well to create a brooding mood here. Very nice!

Stunning composition Kathy .the photo leads you right down the tracks very nice .. Thanks for your complements .. I use focal blades a plugin for photoshop and then put it into another plugin from Harrys filters . Cheers glenn . sorry for the late getback , have been off the computer for a few days

Superb shot, Kathy. The depth of field is terrific. As are the clarity and palette. It really makes me want to be on a train riding that stretch of rail.

I like this shot Kathy, I've spent a lot of time walking tracks along rivers like this. Good perspective and lighting that highlights the rails. The bend at the end and dramatic sky also add to image.(I find the brightness of inner frame top and left a little distracting)

Nice perspective along the rails. I feel as if I was there looking with you. The detail between the railway ties and along side of the tracks with the crushed rock really adds a special touch.

hi, up close and personal placing me right there!
High impact shot with typical WA brooding sky..LOL..the way you composed and perspective makes this one,Kathy....love the sheen on the rails and the textures throughout...many nice elements coming together...tripod? hehehe...i have some rail shots with and without trains,and this makes me want to post an arty one i have sitting...maybe tomorrow....losing my oomph and still have to leave house......:(

Hi Kathy... why I asked was that some of the branches against the clouds look like they've been partially cloned out or something like that and I am thinking that might be an effect of the sharpening process?? But I don't really know. I think most people have the picture the way they want it before they upload, so I think an additional sharpening probably isn't necessary, but again, I don't really know... (wow, not much help am I??) I click on the no sharpening button when I upload pictures here (when I remember - hahaha). Anyway, it's really a small thing and doesn't detract from a wonderful image!! Hi Gary,
I always choose the smallest amount of sharpening when I upload to UF. Do you think choosing "none" is the better choice? I use to leave the choice at medium and wasn't pleased with the results at all. I'm a bit confused about a few things in the uploads with the new site. A lot of the images don't look clear to me until they are opened in the large view, and I didn't see that as a problem before. Maybe it's just me! Anyway, thanks for your comments...they are much appreciated!

Wow, I really like your low angle of view. Oh to be young and able to get down like this. When I get down it takes a while to get back up and in a place like this my luck the train would come along while I was down. The shine on the rails leading into that threatening sky is very good. I love this one though I think the frame on the bottom and right side should have been done all the way around . . . just personal preference, but the white seems a bit distracting on the top and left frame sides to me.

Hi Kathy... well yet another fine image!! Great moody clouds and just a nice angle of view, bringing the viewer right into the picture. I have to wonder though, do you use the UF sharpening feature? I just think the branches look a little strange, like they've been only partially cloned out... Not sure if the sharpening feature would cause that or not. At any rate, a great picture!! Cheers, Gary

Great composition. I like the perspective, and that river adds so much. I find it difficult to capture a scene with so much interest when all of the trees are barren of leaves and there is no snow to provide contrasts. You have done it very well.

Hi Kathy,
Clear and soft at the same time.... Is that possible? Nice slightly muted, kind of creamy colours. Good use of the wide angle. I like the way the right rail starts in the corner and leads right into the image like that.

Hi Kathy, I love this low angle and fantastic clarity and detail on the tracks. Did you put your ear down to listen if a train was coming? Just kidding :0)) Great landscape with the river, lovely winter hues, and moody sky. I love the rusty nails and the wood tie texture, and how I can see every single little piece of gravel. WOW Kathy! This is so razor sharp it's like a 3D image. I think I either need to get one of those cameras or get my eyes checked to get this kind of clarity. I too am thinking like Robin. I'll bet there's a barn just around that bend. hehe A great belly shot. Love the perspective. Fantastic quality. Like a painting. Great job Kathy. What the heck are you doing riding on the front of the train. There are no seat out there. Just bumming out for the day huh?
What an awsome looking picture. The composition is great. Love the dark forboding feel to this. I can just feel the storm comming in. Great lines colors and shapes to look at. The eye wants to see the whole of the picture and not just the tracks like so many of these shots do. Great job!!!
