Hi Hugo.
I completely agree with you on your observations here. The lake had lots of stones to use as compositional aids, but as you can see in the other 2 shots, they did tend to get in the way of each other a lot. This as about the only "poerfect" line up of stones I could find really.
I'd have preferred to be a little lower on the shot, but I was in the water anyway so you have been soaked had I got any lower.
Great to catch up with Den Thompson, Margaret Sturgess, Alastair Bell, Marie johnson AND Steve Bowden again too.

Hi Ade, A great series of very moody images. I think this one stands out compared to the other two, because it's the cleanest shot, IMO. The simplicity of the scene also makes it very appealing. Great tones, and I like how you've used those three stones in the foreground to create a virtual diagonal line towards the hills in the background. Very well captured. Also good to see how such awful weather is still very suitable for photography. Good job!
Cheers,
Hugo

Cheers Andree
this is the one that won an award on another site.
this kind of landscape if very popular on there though - wide angle lens, get low down and put something in the foreground (rocks, sheeps skull, boat, litter - whatever) and then sweep up over a landscape of water, meadows, building to a cresendo of hills - all topped off with some clouds - bright and fluffy, or dark and menacing like in this one.
it's a recipe worth trying.
go buy some Cokin P grad filters too - put the dark bit on the sky, the clear bit on the land.
have a fun experimenting - that's all I did amd the results come. The lack of comments I get on here is sue to me not commenting :-)
Cheers

This is a spectacular photograph. The stepping stones leading the eye into this beautiful landscape are great. Nice write about. :) Andree

WOW!! Look out.. Ade's out shooting RAW again. One of these days you'll catch cold doing that. :)
This is gorgeous ade. The water is so still like you could skate on it. Not a breath of a breeze. Makes for a stunning reflection and shapes in the water. I love the boulders leading the eyes into the water to the hills. Very nice warm RAW tones. Into my faves this one went.
Thanks for your comment on my frozen waterfall image. Akways enjoy your visits.
Cheers - Ann :)

Ade -- I like the way the stones lead the eye into the inverted "V" reflection in the water and how that reflection leads the eyes deeper, still, into the picture.
