B & W gives this a WWII vintage feel. Nice touch.

Robert - Fantastic lighting and contrast. This is one of those situations that don't come often...you captured it nicely.

Eb - Fantastic detail and DOF. Were you using a tripod?

If you find a pond down here with lily pads and water clarity....look for black bass. Right now it's been so hot that water is getting pretty stagnant. Nice shot!

Eb - I assume you have VR on? Can't tell you are in a canoe. Nice exposure, reflections and details.

Eb - Nice sharp subject and bokeh in fore- and background. Looks like you are getting great shooting weather (brightness).

Thanks Eb.....but it just happens to be that time of the year down here. I do like shooting action. Last Friday night I started using a flash with the 200mm. It allows me to reduce the ISO from 1600 to 1250 and slightly reduce the f-stop from 2 to 2.5. Every little bit helps.

Eb - My favorite species of ducks. We have these down here year round. Great summertime setting with fantastic colors and reflections of the grass.

Eb - Beautiful shot. Great "alternative" use of the 300mm for macro! I have found that using a long telephoto can really bring out the subject especially DOF.

Eb - This was cropped to about 50% of the original. The 200mm is a great lens, but sometimes limits me on details when shooting from the stands. Low light gathering is a must when shooting football since most of the places I visit have mediocre to poor lights. I just traded two lenses to KEH for a new 135mm f/2. It is shaping up to be one of the most impressive lenses I have ever had. I hope to use it for sports and stage (some portraits).

Ray - Several impressions:

1. As with other "portrait" type shots...the telephoto lens provides nice DOF.
2. It looks soft, which enhances the subjects.
3. Perspective is nicely done, looking along the line of ladies.
4. I assume the f/1.8 should have been 2.8?

Nice photo!

As silly as it sounds....due to the scale of the bridge and buildings,,,,the boat looks like a toy! Nice composition of a pretty location.

Nice rugged and COLD landscape. As obscure as it it is.....the barren tree in the background makes one think it is in the middle of winter. Any chance I can see the color version? I'm interested in the water color.

James - Thanks for the comments. No...this is purely a photo taken an an annual stage production put on by the Kilgore College Rangerettes. This is a drill team / dancing group of young ladies whose organization has been in existence for almost 70-years. A purely American tradition.

Without a doubt....your best picture to date!! The look, clothes and missing shoes adds alot to consider when looking at the shot. You may have noticed that the better photos are usually spur of the moment like this one.

Good Job.
