Very very distinct coloring in all the blue/green tones, Andy, and the additional strokes of color only enhance the contrast, like for example the red line at the top, which by the way stands also for the (average) complementary color of the main palette.

The details and the plasticity of the surfaces look very well too, which surely contributes to the vivid character of the subject. Especially strong I find the well captured face expression of the woman. Fresh and right out of reality.

The image looks a bit flat to me. I don't know if perhaps some weaker zoom could use the surface of the water as a hint for depth in a better way. Or perhaps.. leave a bit of the foreground water off image and include more of the top of the boat?

Cheers!

Nick

hi Andy, i did visit a panda reserve just outside of Chengdu in 2006. Didn't have a lot of luck with the photos but managed a couple of decent ones. I was in Chengdu again earlier this year but never stopped in as the purpose of the visit wasn't photography. might try again later this year if i have a chance.

As it is, I'm going back home to Canada for awhile to do some photography there this summer.

Talk to you later ~ James

Thanks James, we were lucky, two weeks before the earth quake and it wasn't a national holiday, so there hardly any tourists. They're fairly active in the morning, limiting the amount of natural natural light. Did you get to any of the panda reserves?

Hi Andy, I like this shot. The composition is good. And best of all, the innocent look on this boy's face! It's timeless!

And thanks for visiting me.

Thanks Again, Dan. I'm not sure what they represent, the Chinese don't always put information about religious ceremonies in their museums. I imagine it is for offerings to ancestors. One of my colleagues left china, so she might feel a little more able to asnwer specifically the significance.
thanks for your visit and great input. I value your advice.

Thanks again, Dan, I'll give that a try. Do you find the court line on the bottom left distracting?

Thanks for the critique, Dan, you're right about the crop. I'll experiment a little more and see what comes out. You are correct about the info, I know that including more about the settings will help with the critiques, I need to remember to write them down. thanks again for the valuable comments!

Andy fantastic image... great tones and texture... This could possibly use a tighter crop to take away the object on the left and a straightening of the horizon lines... unless intended in the photo, the world doesn't always tilt. I did a quick edit...see photo...let me know what you think... also I think because you are fortunate enough to visit so many wonderful places... descriptions of where you were or more about your thoughts on the photo or how you came upon it, would be of interest. Cheers Dan

Nice action shot Andy... love the motion blur... creates power... I am wondering if a tighter crop from the top might potentialy make it stronger... by taking away the flowers the only defined colour would be the ball and the central movement becomes the focus... bold shot.

Thanks Rashed. It's an amazing place, I think 2/3 of Nairobi is surrounded by parkland. You can see some very interesting scences. I appreciate your visit.
