Absolutely Brilliant..

I really like the way that you have captured the dancers movements with a slow shutter and the colours are stunning..

Its an education in colour and movement

thanks, Kevin! i started shooting with film very recently and i'm trying out every kind of film i can get my hands on here. It's a whole new world for me. This whole roll of slide film scanned beautifully and responded to the slightest PS tweaks like magic. Maybe it was beginners' luck??? Thanks again..kat~

hi, Kostas..thanks for the comment..actually, it's funny you suggest turning it upside down..that's how i shot it and that's how i worked on it in PS and then flipped it right side up on a whim.

how are you, kat? it's been a long time...

i like this photo...it seems you are good at manipulating as in taking great originals ;-)
i also think you could ease their pain if you turned the photo upside down...but then you'd have to find another title... :-P
so..be happy and keep shooting!

This is a interesting shot
I like the depth and color in this image and the swinging lights add a nice touch.

I will have to think about this one for a while. This almost looks like a taven where members of the Blaue Reiters would stop for a shot of Steinhaeger during their rampage through German Expressioniism. Looks like you missed your medication that day. It is starting to grow on me. I do have a problem with the muted beige, might just be my lack of taste for that part of the color spectrum. Weird enough for me.

kathleen...

so good to see you back again. it's been a long time. very cool shot here. i love your composition. the motion of the lights and the red and beige "tunnel" are very cool. the swathes of red have a painterly feel about them. just great.

You have more karma points than I do...that's just not fair!!....well, then again....your pics have more substance...OK...I guess you deserve it. This is brilliant. And no, I have nothing clever or useful to add...just....this is good. Colors, comp., school?, sleeping, tired, just plain good.

I found it interesting how much composition will change this image - especially by leaving space in front or behind her. I really like the bag next to the wall - it provides an anchor to reality for her.

I agree, an off centered composition would change everything here. The rough ground is bold and takes a lot of energy. The "arrangement" is great! C.

Kathleen...

I like the color and textures of this shot.Very cool that the red is the only color that jumps at you. I would try recomposing the shot so that the sleeping girl and her bag are positioned more in the bottom right quadrant and more of the textured lawn takes control of the left and top of the shot. Nice job.

thanks, Jim! It's great to "see" you..i'm not here because i'm in the last painful stages of new construction (or i hope it's the last painful stages) and although i'm still shooting, it's difficult to rev up the typing fingers when i finally get time to myself..hope you are fine though..see you around when i get back..kat~

Yes....I am still checking up on you. Your spelling is impeccable...andy our eye is still dang near perfect. I will not go into the politics of this piece, I will leave that for the professionals. But the title and the subject matter is killer/dead on.
